Long ago and far away

Long ago and far away
I woke up with a pain one day
Though its origin was mysterious
The strength of it left me near delirious
It stayed for one week and just vanished
Quite shocking given the force it had brandished
Then without notice again it returned
So repeatedly that I became concerned
Every part of my body it scoured
My fat, muscle, strength all devoured
Hours waxed to days, weeks, months then years
Frequent trips to ‘Emergency’ fed my swelling fears
It’s this, no it’s that, no it’s nothing at all
From partaking in life came my forced withdrawal
4,536 days and counting RA has been my reality
I still hold faith that soon a cure will be an actuality
The point of my tale is thus
Living with arthritis sometimes just plain sucks
For leading edge research we need bucks
Odds are arthritis affects you in some way
